Introduction
Hello guys and welcome to this YouTube video, my name is Perla Mourrah and I have been a Visual Art student at Montmorency College for about two years now and in my program, we all are passionate about many art subjects like drawing, painting, photography, sculpture etc.
For people wondering, our program is a pre-university program, which means we have to go to university after our college degree. We have the chance to enter any design or Art programs in university, or even some Social Science programs depending on the classes required to enter the program.
For university applications, every art student needs a portfolio to show their work. For example, most tattoo artists or photographers these days have social accounts specifically dedicated for their tattoos or photos they take, in order to show clients their work and their creativity.
There are so many ways to make a professional and a successful portfolio that could be used for a university application.
My main goal in this video is to show you guys the easiest way to create a portfolio by yourself in a very simple way by using Canva. It's an online website, and it's totally free since we want something very simple and professional.

The Problem
Your career life could depend on a simple portfolio, so imagine how important it is to be able to make it by yourself. Not only you could use it for university, but you could use it for business purposes too.
Nothing would go wrong if you are patient enough and not doing it last minute because I am telling you right now that it is time-consuming, so it's better if you do it in your free time in order to get the best results possible.
So, let's say you need to show your work either to university or to clients for business purposes, all they would have to do is to click on the link you've created for your work. It is more useful than social media apps because Instagram for example limits you to edit images using filters and settings, which could really restrict how you present your work.
The solution for that is to create a singular website only dedicated to your work and to the information you'd like to show people who look through your website.
The Quest
To get to the website, all you have to do is to open your browser, and type canva.com. Or, if you're using your apple or android device, all you have to do is to to go to the play/apple store and type Canva in the search bar to download the app.
You will have to create a free account in the top right corner, in order to be able to create the website. You can use your Facebook or your google account to make it simpler for you.
The Solution
Once your account is set, you're going to click on the search bar in the middle of the screen, and search for "website".
Now, you have the choice to use a website template that you like that does not have the little crown in the bottom left corner of the template since we want free ones.
Then, once you choose the template, you're going to click on customize this template.
On the search bar on the left, type "art" to make sure you have an art portfolio template.
After customizing the template of your choice by uploading the photos and the information you would like to show, you will have to click on "publish website" and enter your subdomain for your website's link.To finish, all you have to do is to click on "publish" and there you have it! Your own portfolio website.
The Conclusion
Like I mentioned, artists need a professional and a simple portfolio for their work, and Canva is one of the best ways to do so.
